Scotland build for World Cup
Scotland will start their 2019 World Cup build-up with friendlies against Norway and Iceland in La Manga next month, writes Alan Campbell.
The Norwegians, who won the World Cup in 1995, beat Shelley Kerr’s side 3-0 at the same venue this January. They will be in Pot 2 when the draw for the France tournament is made in Paris tomorrow night. Iceland will not be at the World Cup, but caused a huge upset in qualifying when they beat one of the tournament favourites, Germany, 3-2 away from home.
Scotland will also compete in the prestigious Algarve Cup for the first time since 2002. Played in Portugal at the end of February and beginning of March, it is another reward for World Cup qualifying.
