Flood scheme inquiry decision ‘months away’
A decision on the fate of a flood protection scheme in Dumfries is still some months away.
Four weeks of evidence heard at a public inquiry into the Whitesands project have now concluded.
However, written submissions and a council response will not be complete until the end of January. The inquiry heard it would take at least two months for a report to be completed and then “months rather than weeks” for a final decision.
The hearing in Dumfries has heard evidence both for and against the scheme.
