Burning hatred
Re: the just-announced Burns and Beyond festival
The amount and darkness of the profanities I would need to employ to even scrape the surface of my contempt for yet more commoditising of public space knows no limits. So I will spare you that burden.
However, I will say this; I was born in Kilmarnock ( strong Burns connections throughout Ayrshire), my mother was a Burns prize winner at school several times ( Dumfries) and there is more to Scotland than using Edinburgh as a one-trick pony for universal tat and tourism. The “historic centre” and “elegance” the idiots who gibber on about this stuff rely upon will soon disappear if this continues.
