Braving the cold to help: Thousands sleep out in four cities to raise money for the homeless

-

Sleep in the Park on Saturday night saw the crowds beneath Edinburgh Castle entertained by a succession of stars giving their support to the cause.

The capital event was one of four, the others being in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park, main image, plus Aberdeen and Dundee. Lulu headlined the event in Edinburgh, with comic Fred Macaulay hosting and Irvine Welsh reading a bedtime story, above. Singers Amy Mcdonald, top, and KT Tunstall were also on the bill.

Last year’s event raised £4m, helping build Granton’s Social Bite village and supporting a programme to give 800 homeless people tenancies.
