- By CRAIG P STEWART

Injury-depleted Edinburgh City remain top after a 2-1 success at Annan ahead of facing closest challengers Peterhead tomorrow night.

The Citizens took the lead on 41 minutes through Conrad Balatoni’s header and it was 2-0 a quarter of an hour later when Liam Henderson forced a corner home. City held out despite Scott Hooper pulling a goal back, with manager James Mcdonaugh saying: “We are showing a lot of resilience.”

Peterhead enjoyed a 5-0 romp at Berwick Rangers where Jack Leitch crashed a shot home after two minutes, Rory Mcallister slipped in a second and it was 3-0 at the break through Jason Brown’s header.

Russell Mclean flicked in a goal before Jamie Stevenson rounded things off from a free-kick.

Cowdenbeath came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with third-placed visitors Clyde.

John Rankin finished off a fine move on 17 minutes but an equaliser came early in the second half when Jordan Allan fired in.

Elgin City climbed into the top four after a 4-2 success over visitors Albion Rovers, with Brian Cameron and Shane Sutherland hitting doubles for the hosts and Graham Gracie doing likewise for the visitors.

Queen’s Park failed to put pressure on the playoff pack when Stirling Albion hit back to draw 1-1 at Hampden.

The Spiders took the lead on 14 minutes when Lewis Hawke backheeled the ball into the net and Stirling equalised before the break through Darren Smith’s lob, with Queen’s defender Gerry Mclauchlan dismissed just before the end.
