Police appeal after pedestrian hit by a car

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after she was hit by a car.

The 38-year-old was crossing Orbiston Road in Bellshill, when she was struck by a red Vauxhall Astra at around 5.15pm on Sunday.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where medical staff described her condition as critical.

Sergeant Craig Mcdonald, from the divisional road policing unit, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and contact us.”
