Taxi service to cover for council bus funding cuts

-

Tweeddale residents have secured funding to run a late-night taxi pick up service from Penicuik to Dolphinton after Scottish Borders Council funding were cut.

The council slashed their contribution towards the 101/102 Dumfries-edinburgh bus subsidy by £100,000, leaving residents stranded after 7:30pm when the evening bus service was removed. An eightseater taxi will now run for six evenings a week.
