Shooting at Christmas market
A shooting in the French city of Strasbourg last night sparked a major security operation around a famous Christmas market, with reports of one dead and several wounded.
The French Interior Ministry called on the public to remain indoors and local authorities asked residents to follow police instructions.
“Our security and rescue services are mobilised,” Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said.
French media reported one dead and ten wounded.
Strasbourg’s well-known market is set up around the city’s cathedral during the Christmas period.
