Twin triumph: Surgeons complete five-hour operation in India to separate conjoined pair

This team of surgeons has performed an operation to separate conjoined twins in a marathon five-hour hour operation in India that was done free of charge.

The separation of three-dayold conjoined twins from India joined at the stomach proved a success.

Among the greatest challenges was convincing the parents to agree to the treatment.

Both children were anaesthetised simultaneously. During surgery the liver and sternum were divided. The defect was closed, with the surgeons confirming their young patients were in good health following the operation.
