May’s indie bonus

-

If further proof were needed that Theresa May is manifestly unsuited to lead a parish council let alone this disunited kingdom, it was her Downing Street statement on Wednesday.

A lukewarm re-hash of her general election pie-in-thesky promises (and we know how that worked for her) it was overlong and self-pitying; a smarter politician would have kept it short – especially on tired promises – and determined.

Mrs May has been a disastrous Prime Minister and has hastened the prospect of Scottish independence – so not all bad then.

Westminster politics at its best, a government that can’t agree, a request for a vote denied, a deal that won’t work and nobody really wants and now it looks likely yet another PM for whom nobody has voted.

And they say Scotland can’t be trusted to run its own affairs . . . Mmmmm, let me think.
