Brexit jobs loss

-

A new set of figures which show that any form of Brexit would be disastrous for jobs in our area.

This report lays bare the country-wide devastation that would be caused by Brexit – in all of its forms. It would leave communities around the UK starved of work.

The numbers make for stark reading. In Central Scotland, the constituencies of Glasgow Central and Edinburgh North & Leith would be worst hit with 3,250 and 1,550 jobs respectively lost under a “soft Brexit” Norway-style deal.

In Scotland overall, there would be 31,950 job losses. drop of 1.4 per cent of all employment. These figures are further evidence that we need to hand power to the public to have a final say on Brexit.

In 2016, the people of Scotland voted by a clear majority to remain. Some voted to leave for a host of reasons, but no one voted to be poorer and less secure.

We are aware of and appreciate the support the SNP has extended to the call for a People’s Vote. Now in the light of these statistics we urge the individual constituency MPS to back a final say in line with the wishes of their constituents and their party’s support.
