#THERESAMAY

In what might have been seen as a surprise outcome at the start of the week, Theresa May remains leader of the Conservative Party and Britain’s Prime Minister. Mrs May came through a no confidence motion brought about by backbenchers but remains in a difficult situation ahead of a return to the EU council to attempt to renegotiate her deal.

@Albertonardelli reported: “This story is so revealing of what drives Theresa May – the prime minister personally insisted that the words “Ending Of Free Movement Of People” be added to the first page of her Brexit deal.”

@Georgeeaton wrote: “When 172 Labour MPS voted no confidence in Corbyn, he was aided by the public backing of hundreds of thousands of members. Theresa May would be stronger if she had anything comparable.”

@Rachael_swindon posted: “Theresa May’s doomed withdrawal agreement will not be put to the House until January, two months before we leave the EU. How can this uncertainty be in the national interest? She is a coward and a disgrace.”

@Peston surmised: “I am getting strong sense @ theresa_may will fail to get from EU leaders the ‘legal’ bit of the assurances she needs to get her EU plan approved by DUP and Brexiter Tories – ie no addendum or codicil to Withdrawal Agreement. So this EU Council could yet be a debacle for her.”

#LEIGHGRIFFITHS

Scottish football fans and other figures from around the country were united in support for Celtic star Leigh Griffiths.the Scotland international is taking a prolonged break from football, to deal with personal issues that have affected him.

@Bellacaledonia posted: “Like people following all clubs I hope my thoughts and best wishes are with Leigh Griffiths. Male mental health crisis needs talked about and understood.”

@Ohjawbone agreed: “Leigh Griffiths helps show that footballers are just human. Trying to do their jobs with ups and downs.”

@Oldfirmfacts1 concurred: “Mental health is being talked about a lot more openly these days, but there is still some way to go. Hopefully people can be sensitive in their responses to this story. Whatever issues Leigh Griffiths is dealing with, I hope he gets better soon.”
