- By EMMA NEWLANDS

A former senior executive at Weir Group and William Grant & Sons has been appointed to the top financial post at broadcaster STV.

The group, which is listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, said Lindsay Dixon will join the board as chief financial officer in the second quarter of 2019.

The news comes after the announcement in October of George Watt’s intention to step down from the role next year.

STV said Dixon is a chartered accountant with extensive commercial experience in a range of sectors covering the FTSE 100, 250 and large private companies. She will join from her role as group financial controller at William Grant & Sons, whose brands include Glenfiddich, Drambuie and Hendrick’s.

Prior to this, she held the same post at Weir Group. In addition to her core financial responsibilities, she has extensive experience of investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, and global work.

After qualifying at Deloitte, she served in senior finance roles at Johnston Press.

STV chief executive Simon Pitts said: “I am delighted she is joining STV at such an exciting time in the delivery of our strategic growth plan. She brings extensive plc experience from a diverse range of sectors, including commercial media, and I am very much looking forward to working with her.”

Dixon said: “I am really excited to be joining STV as the company progresses an ambitious growth strategy and look forward to working with Simon, the board and the wider team at STV.” 0 STV has its HQ and studios next to the Clyde
