The Flying Scotsman returns home
The Flying Scotsman will make a historic return to Scotland this year, but tickets cost up to £1,000 – and part of the journey will be fuel-powered, not steam.
First class tickets are up to £999, while premium passengers will pay £699 each.
The Flying Scotsman was designed by Edinburgh-born Sir Nigel Gresley to haul the same-named Edinburgh-london express on the east coast main line. It was the first steam locomotive to reach 100mph, in 1934, and set a record for the longest non-stop run of 422 miles in Australia in 1989.
