Airing concerns

-

Andy Mac I have had the experience of letting rooms to 14 lodgers. All but one had their deposit back in full. Afterwards, I found all kinds of damage which didn’t come to light in their exit inspection and all kinds of rubbish I had to dispose of they’d hidden in a variety of ways during their exit inspection. A mattress protector was removed one time with one unfortunate consequence. So it isn’t all a one-sided issue.

Nige Yes, I would imagine that a good proportion would have had their deposit return reduced or withheld in full because of legitimate reasons, but that seems not to have been recognised here. However, on the issue of placing the deposit with a third party for safe-keeping, I thought the onus was on the landlord to do this.

Esox Hunter Do it through an agent, most estate agents will offer this service.

Ben Palmer Pregnant women are at an increased risk of miscarrying if they are exposed to elevated levels of nitrogen dioxide, a gas created by petrol and diesel vehicles.

Air pollution is way less than it was even a couple of decades ago. Huge strides have been taken in improving air quality, but the air pollution/ climate change brigade has become an industry in itself where academics who would in many cases be unemployable in the private sector can continue to pump out ‘studies’ and ‘reports’ demonising cars, taxis, buses, lorries, factories and power plants whilst conveniently ignoring the improvements that have been made.

choccywoccydoda Aye, I can remember thick, smoke-laden fog from coal fires and the local gasworks when town gas was produced from coal.

G Wood Nobody in the Scottish administration/pretendy government has said how the reduction from 30 to 20mph has made it safer for children and pregnant women’s health. Because it has not reduced pollution by any significant amount.
