and thoroughly deserved the bonus-point triumph.

Hooker Rory Simpson, centre Robbie Kent and full-back Harry Paterson excelled, but this win was all about rolling the sleeves up and playing as a team.

O’riordan said: “That type of performance has been coming for a while. What we demanded from the players wasn’t anything around ability, it was just around working hard and I don’t think there’s been many Borders sides that have been out-worked like that by a city team for a long while.”

Hawick coach George Graham said: “We were absolutely woeful. Accies had more desire and more get-up-andgo to win the game. They thoroughly deserved it.”

Accies were 14-0 up after five minutes, a Cameron Gray try being added to by a penalty try. A Vincent Hart penalty and a try from Paterson made it 22-0. Hawick scored their first try in the 46th minute, Andrew Mitchell going over for the converted effort, but a penalty try for Accies made it 29-7.

Hart kicked another penalty and Ronan Seydak’s try was the icing on the cake. 0 Hamish Watson tries to drive past Toulon centre Mathieu Bastareaud. Left, stand-off Francois Trinh-duc tackles James Johnstone, the scorer of Edinburgh’s third try. Inset, Blair Kinghorn celebrates a famous victory at Stade Mayol.
