Arbroath sweep Stenhousem­uir aside to stretch their lead at the top to 13 points

Arbroath moved 13 points clear thanks to a 4-1 success at bottom side Stenhousem­uir, with Bobby Linn and Ryan Wallace both hitting doubles, writes Craig Stewart.

Linn volleyed in the opener after only four minutes, with Wallace drilling home from the edge of the box five minutes later. Mark Mcguigan’s thumping goal got the Warriors back into things five minutes from the break but Arbroath restored their two-goal advantage on 52 minutes when Wallace slotted into the net. Linn netted directly from a corner to complete the scoring.

Gayfield assistant manager Ian Campbell said: “We are where we want to be, but we need to keep working hard to stay there.”

Raith slipped further back after being held to a 1-1 draw at Airdrie. Leighton Mcintosh fired the Diamonds in front from the penalty spot in nine minutes, with the Kirkcaldy men drawing level 17 minutes from the end when Ewan Murray headed home.

East Fife dug deeper into third place after a 2-0 win at Montrose thanks to a Liam Watt double in the first half. Watt curled in the opener on 25 minutes and then grabbed his second 15 minutes later.

Forfar held on to fourth place when a late John Baird goal earned a 2-1 win over visitors

Dale Hilson pounced from close range to give the Loons an early lead but the Blues pulled level when Innes Cameron side-footed home a Mark Lamont cross. The winner came three minutes from time when Baird slammed home a loose ball from eight yards.

Brechin won for the first time in eight games when Jordan Tapping forced the ball home after a scramble in the third minute of injury time to secure a 1-0 success over a Dumbarton side who had Michael Paton sent off with half an hour left at Glebe Park.
