Our spy says

As part of the consultation, my therapist, Heather, tells me about this new package.

In conjunction with their allnatural product range, Made for Life Organics, it’s a compilation of clients’ favourite bits, and those that therapists enjoy performing.

After I’ve inhaled from a bowl of lemongrass and marigold infused oils, we begin with the back exfoliation.

It’s very gentle, with a layer of oil applied, then a scrub, which is rubbed on as if I’m an expensive and easily scratched marble worktop.

After this is towelled off, the treatment segues into around 20 minutes of back massage.

Heather uses forearms, then crisscross moves with fingers across scapulas, with fists rubbing into my neck and circular strokes on my lower back. I’m very grateful for her work on my crunchy cornflake-like knots. “They must be very uncomfortable,” she says later, and I appreciate the sympathy.

Next, I turn over so my feet can be exfoliated, using the same natural potion that descaled my back. It’s left on, and my tootsies are wrapped up in towels, like I’m wearing a giant pair of bootees. The treats keep coming, and their daily Radiance Facial Cleansing Balm containing jojoba and vanilla is massaged on. I’m buffed with the chamomile stamens in their Brightening Facial Exfoliator, and there’s more rubbing and smoothing across my neck, scalp and shoulders, with their rose scented Daily Rejuvenating Face Oil. Finally, the bootees are removed from my feet, they’re massaged, and, once my legs are bent, so are my calves.

The results

It seems a shame to wash off the glorious potions with a visit to Escape by One, but I don’t want to miss a marinade in the bubbling Rooftop Hydropool, and a shot of their new offerings, including the Himalayan Dry Salt Room with its white iridescent heated benches and walls of marbled salt bricks, their new Relaxation Room with seating that looks straight out of the Starship Enterprise, or the Crystal Steam Room and its totemic chunk of amethyst. I’m beginning to feel that maybe I was squashed outside on Lothian Road, died, and am now in heaven. n
