BO’NESS REVIVAL TO STAGE JIM CLARK TRIBUTE

-

This year’s Bo’ness Revival is to be a weekend-long tribute to Scottish Formula 1 champion Jim Clark.

2019 marks 60 years since Clark’s only competitive appearance at the Bo’ness hill climb and a full weekend of events are planned to celebrate the Duns driver.

The Bo’ness circuit is Scotland’s oldest motorsport facility and the Revival was created to celebrate its heritage and allow owners of historic cars to put themselves and their vehicles to the test.

During his appearance in 1959, Clark competed in three cars - a Porsche 356, a Lister Jaguar in which he set the fastest time of the day, and a Lotus Elite he had driven at the Le Mans 24 Hours the previous weekend.

In celebration of Clark Scotland’s first F1 champion - a special class has been created for this year’s Revival hill climb. The one-off class is open to actual cars driven by Clark or models in which he competed during his career. Already confirmed for the event are a DKW, Porsche 356, Triumph TR3S and various Lotus road and circuit cars.

Organisers are also still seeking entries of any other qualifying cars, a list of which can be found on the Revival’s website.

The tribute class will run alongside the usual full card of hill climb competitions across the weekend of 31 August to 1 September.

The Revival will also be holding the Jim Clark Road Tour heading to the newly refurbished Jim Clark Museum in Duns, and the Bo’ness Saltire Trophy, a competitive historic rally and production car autotest.

On the Sunday, around four hundred classic cars will be on display, including a static display of Jim Clark cars.
