Rennie coy on Australia coaching job
Glasgow Warriors coach Dave Rennie did little to douse speculation linking him to the Australia job yesterday, writes
Duncan Smith.
Reports down under have made him the favourite to replace current Wallabies coach Michael Cheika after the Rugby World Cup this autumn.
Rennie, a New Zealander who took over from Gregor Townsend at Glasgow in 2017, is under contract until the end of next season and insisted it was “unlikely” he would leave before then but added: “You never say never do you?”
He continued: “But what I’ve said is I’m assuming that, like a lot of teams, they’ll probably make changes in coaches immediately after the World Cup. That’s November 2019. I’m committed here until July 2020, so that’s what I’m saying, it’s unlikely.”
