Just 8 per cent of football fans are women
Only 8 per cent of Scottish football fans are women but those who do attend matches are extremely dedicated to their teams, according to the findings of a ground breaking survey.
While female supporters of the nation’s clubs are still hugely outnumbered by men, almost half (49 per cent) have season tickets, the study involving more than 800 fans found.
Commissioned by the Scottish Football Supporters Association (SFSA), the independent survey is the first time that female fans’ views and attitudes have been formally analysed.
The findings suggest that morewomenareattending matches than ever before.
The vast majority (84 per cent) said during the 201718 season they went to either the same number of games or more compared with 2016-17.
