-

US medical authorities are revisiting the safety of breast implants used by millions of American women.

An expert panel assembled by the country’s Food and Drug Administration is discussing the latest evidence about the risks of illness and complications with the devices.

Breast augmentation is the most popular form of cosmetic surgery in the US, with roughly 300,000 women undergoing the procedure each year.

The implants have recently been linked to a rare cancer and there have also been thousands of claims they can contribute to chronic ailments.
