KCA Deutag wins land drilling work worth $54m

- By SCOTT REID

Aberdeenshire-based KCA Deutag has secured around $54 million (£41m) of contracts across the Middle East, Russia, Europe and Africa.

The firm, which is headquartered in Portlethen, said the latest agreements came on the back of strong tendering activity at its land drilling business.

Simon Drew, president of land, said: “It is good to see activity picking up in the international drilling industry once again across various markets, and whilst pricing remains very competitive, we are pleased to see this feeding through to an increase in utilisation across our land drilling fleet.”

The firm pointed to a high level of demand for rigs in the Middle East.
