Edinburgh Rugby have launched their biggest week in seven years with the signing of four new players for next season and the announcement that star Scotland flanker Hamish Watson has signed a new deal until 2021.

The capital pro team, who will be playing in Europe’s elite knockout stages for the first time since they beat Toulouse in 2012, face Munster at BT Murrayfield on Saturday, with more than 32,000 tickets sold already, and used yesterday as an opportunity to announce significant developments.

As well as the re-signing of Watson, Edinburgh have locked in Fiji Sevens duo Eroni Sau and Kalione Nasoko, along with hooker Mike Willemse and backrow Nick Haining for next season.

All four will arrive in the capital on two-year contracts. Centre/wing Nasoko is the current Fiji Sevens captain, while Perpignan wing Sau, nicknamed “The Sledgehammer”, has one Test cap for the Pacific island.

Willemse is joining from South African side Southern Kings, while back-rower Haining joins from Bristol Bears.
