Death of man shot on estate under investigation

Police are investigating the death of a man found shot on a country estate.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the Rossie Estate near Inchture in the Carse of Gowrie, Perthshire, at 11:30am on Monday following reports of the incident. It is thought the man may have died in a shooting accident.

One local resident said: “This is a rural area. It isn’t unusual to hear the sound of shotguns – be it farmers working on the fields or shooting parties out hunting. On Monday there were suddenly police everywhere, which is incredibly unusual up here.”

A spokesman for Police Scotlandsaid:“wecanconfirm a man has died following an incident near Kinnaird. There was no threat to the public and the incident was contained to the immediate area. Inquiries are at an early stage.”
