Brechin’s late goals seal win

-

Brechin struck twice late on to see off Stranraer and jump above the Blues at the foot of the table.

Stranraer started brightly, with Innes Cameron, Kyle Turner and Ali Mccann going close in the opening 10 minutes.

Brechin responded and home goalkeeper Lyle Avci, making his debut, pulled off a fine double save from Ross Kavanagh midway through the first half. Brechin almost opened the scoring on 44 minutes, but Dougie Hill’s header was ruled out for offside.

Stranraer missed good chances just before the hour, Kyle Turner hitting a 20-yard shot straight at goalkeeper Patrick O’neil and Joao Victoria failing to get a shot away after running through on goal.

In the final minute, Jackson turned home a corner from close range and, deep into injury time, Craig Thomson ended a breakaway with a precise finish.
