Saracens skipper Barritt says Rennie claim they pressure refs is ‘news to me’

-

Saracens have dismissed claims from Glasgow Warriors that they put pressure on referees.

Ahead of Saturday’s Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final at Allianz Park, a third meeting between the sides this season and rematch of the 2017 quarter-final clash, Glasgow head coach Dave Rennie said “If they make an error, it is often followed by a lot of push and shove from them to bring the referee in to change a decision.”

Saracens hope to bring back the star trio of Owen Farrell, Maro Itoje and George Kruis for Saturday’s game and their experienced skipper Brad Barritt has refuted Rennie’s claims after the two spicy encounters in this season’s pool stage this term, both of which were won by the London giants.

Barritt said: “That is news to me and I have played here for 11 years and didn’t know that. We talk about supporting our team-mates and like to show togetherness. If it is an individual mistake, it is about getting that guy refocused.”
