Fabulous and five-bedroomed

Miller Homes is offering a little extra room nationwide, discovers Kirsty Mcluckie

Five-bedroomed new-build properties are always going to be met with approval by growing families looking for a move.

Most – particularly those with teenage children – would prefer a bedroom each, but add in a guest room and perhaps a spare, which could be used as an office or somewhere to house gym equipment, and the fourbedroomed standard starts to feel cramped – even if you don’t have a huge brood.

Miller Homes has a range of larger properties across Scotland designed to address the need.

Located in the Midlothian village of Newtongrange, nine miles from Edinburgh city centre, is Lady Victoria Grange.

The development is bordered by woodland and a scenic riverbank, but it is only half a mile from the A7, with transport links to the Borders, Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The Hargreaves model is an exceptional residence, with an openplan kitchen and family room plus a separate bay-windowed lounge.

Cleverly integrated storage, a double garage and a laundry room ensures that there is plenty of space for a larger family’s belongings.

A central gallery landing leads to five bedrooms upstairs, two of which feature an ensuite.

Depending on a family’s stage, the bedrooms can be easily converted and would make for great nursery, playroom or home office spaces.

With two large windows, the master bedroom is bathed in natural light, and it includes double fitted wardrobes and private ensuite. It is priced at £434,995

and is available with a part-exchange option. Miller Homes will also cover LBTT costs of up to £16,849.

At the southern edge of Edinburgh lies Highbrae at Lang Loan, offering four and five-bedroomed homes. The Lockhart is a great choice for families who need quintuple sleeping areas.

With a double garage and a wealth of additional storage, including a separate laundry room, the unit has plenty of extra space. The lounge features a striking bay window and French doors to the adjoining dining room. Patio doors to the back garden keep the breakfast room bright and airy, with a contemporary-style breakfast bar adding a modern feel.

The master bedroom is a standout feature of the home, with fitted wardrobes and an ensuite. A second bedroom also has ensuite facilities.

Prices for the Lockhart start at £434,995, and there is a variety of incentives on selected homes, including part exchange, LBTT paid and free carpets.

In the West, Miller Homes at Benthall Farm, on the edge of East Kilbride, combines the convenience of living in a town with rural surroundings.

The Buttermere is one of the most popular house types here, maximising space and natural light throughout. An open-plan kitchen and breakfast room is positioned at the back. With plenty of worktop space and modern integrated appliances, it also features an adjoining WC and laundry room.

There are five bedrooms upstairs, including a master bedroom, and a main family bathroom. Bedroom two comes complete with fitted wardrobes and its own ensuite. Adding a touch of luxury, the master has a private ensuite as well as a walk-in dressing room, providing a comfortable sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of life in a large family.

Prices for the Buttermere start at £318,000 and, once again, a partexchange incentive is available.
