Hotel and care home on hold over land error

Plans to build a care home and hotel in East Lothian have been put on hold after it turned out the applicants did not own the land.

An application for planning permission for the proposals on Tantallon Road in North Berwick was due to be discussed at East Lothian Council’s planning committee this week.

However, an officer from the planning department told the committee a site visit had revealed the land in question was not owned by the applicants. The three-storey hotel promised 65 bedrooms, a bar and restaurant.
