Man wielded bat in garden attack

A man needed hospital treatment after he was attacked in a garden by a man wielding a bat in North Ayrshire.

The victim, aged 51, was in a garden in Mayville Street, Stevenston, when the “violent assault” happened around 8:40pm on Thursday. A man and woman approached him and the man then struck the victim repeatedly with a bat before running off with his companion in an unknown direction.

The injured man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.
