Heard the buzz? Skrillex may repel mosquitoes

-

Music by electronic artist Skrillex could be an effective way to protect against mosquitoes, according to a scientific study.

A team of international scientists subjected Aedes aegypti, known as the yellow fever mosquito, to electronic music to gauge the results. They found that adult female mosquitoes “entertained” by the dubstep track Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites by Skrillex attacked hosts less often than those in a dubstepfree environment, and “the occurrence of blood feeding activity was lower when music was being played”.

And those exposed to the music “copulated far less often” than those in an area with no music.
