More action needed on greenhouse gas emissions

Environmen­tal campaigner­saretodays­tagingadem­onstration at Holyrood, calling for Scottish ministers to take tougher action to tackle global warming.

The protest takes place as MSPS get set to debate Scotland’s new Climate Change Bill. The bill will outline moves Scotland will take to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

Members of the Stop Climate Chaos Scotland coalition said measures to curb greenhouse gas emissions must be ramped up significan­tly in the next ten years.

Tom Ballantine, SCCS chairman, said: “The Scottish Government is failing to tackle climate change with the necessary urgency. We are running out of time to solve this crisis. MSPS must use this debate and the forthcomin­g parliament­ary process to increase Scotland’s action.”
