#GORDONBROWN

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said the Labour Party “let the Jewish community down” over its handling of anti-semitism.

@Kevin_maguire tweeted: “Very public solidarity from a son of the manse joining the Jewish Labour Movement. Touch of class from Gordon Brown.”

@78Soylentgreen added: “I miss Gordon Brown. This is the right way to show support to the Jewish community. Very moving film.”

@mikeyfranklin said: “Gordon Brown is a moral titan. This is a beautiful act of solidarity with the Jewish community.”

@seabrook_ellis didn’t agree: “Gordon Brown is talking a load of middleclass equality bunk, working class jews were let down by everybody the same as the rest of the working classes were. Gordon Brown does however deserve a huge thank you for the minimum wage which celebrates 20 years today #uklabour”

@darrengrimes_ posted: “Gordon Brown, Emily Thornberry, Margaret Hodge, Keir Starmer, David Lammy and Jewish community groups have repeatedly called on Labour to adopt the full IHRA definition without any caveats. This failure to tackle anti-semitic racism within a once great party is truly shameful.”

#TOILETCHARGES

Network Rail has made the last of the country’s biggest and busiest station toilets “free to pee”.

@Vickyjayj replied: “Cleanliness... its all well and good but sometimes paying helps towards spend for cleaning, but yes I agree toilet facility should be a basic provision that is free.”

@Imlatris wrote: “It must be because GLC has the London trains. Charge the tourists, locals go to the many bars surrounding the station, on the train or St Enoch centre. Always thought it was madness paying to pee.”

@planningclaire stated: “Each time I travel through Waverley I’m amazed that charging for this basic service is still in operation. Glad to see I no longer need to “spend 30 pennies” to ‘spend a penny’.”

@Chloemaclean added: “Yes! Finally Edinburgh Waverley will have to make its toilets free. My gran always used to use the phrase ‘away to spend a penny’, so I’ll miss hearing her say that in my head, but glad that it is now free to pee!”
