Backyard blues

-

The Aberdour protesters sound like a fairly typical bunch of white, middle class NIMBYS (“Housing approval for Fife village branded a ‘mockery’,” 29 March). Their town is voted one of the best places to live and surprise, surprise, large numbers of people want to share in that quality of life.

All CALA Homes is doing is satisfying demand for highquality, reasonably-priced living. In the process, CALA and other major housebuilders are changing the face of towns and villages across scotland and further a field. East Lothian is another example.

People have got to live somewhere and it seems the protesters of Aberdour seek to deny people that right.

Thanks to house builders such as CALA and their programmes covering Scotland – designed by some of Scotland’s finest architects – many people who might otherwise be on the streets will have homes in one of the loveliest small towns in Scotland.

Stop whinging, Aberdour, and start celebrating this fact.
