County warn vandal fans: ‘We know who you are’

- By SCOTT COULL

Ross County have warned any supporters who ripped out seats at last month’s Irn Bru Cup final that they will be turned away if they try to gain entry to tonight’s Ladbrokes Championship fixture against Inverness.

County beat Welsh side Connah’s Quay Nomads 3-1 on 23 March to lift the Irn Bru Cup but the occasion – played at Caledonian Stadium, the home of Inverness – was marred when some of their fans vandalised seats in the south stand.

Five teenagers have been charged over the incident and Police Scotland says enquiries will continue to track down other culprits.

Last night County released a statement to say that the club had managed to identify some of those involved and that they will be banned from the Global Energy Stadium in due course. “A number of our fans have been identified and those involved, who will know who they are, shouldn’t travel to our fixture tomorrow night as they are not welcome and will be refused admission,” said the statement .“as time goes on the club will formally ban those involved.”

Tonight’s match at the Caledonian Stadium – crucial to both clubs’ bids for promotion – is live on BBC Scotland at 7.05pm.
