Bungling thief jailed after caravan pursuit

A bungling thief has been jailed after he was caught on dashcam trying to flee police – while towing a caravan.

Steven Beeson, 40, was filmed speeding towards a motorway in the early hours of the morning.

He failed to stop for officers and was filmed trying to speed away from traffic cops around a roundabout at 4:40am on 22 June last year.

Beeson hit speeds of almost 70mph despite towing the 20ft-long caravan in the incident in Staffordshire.

Footage showed Beeson missing a lorry by inches as he sped down a slip road at junction 15, before being caught. Beeson, of Walsall, West Midlands, was jailed for 20 months after admitting driving whilst disqualified and theft at Stafford Crown Court.

He was also banned from driving for three years.
