Poll to ponder

-

Much to ponder yesterdayfor the SNP. The latest poll, involving a very large number of Scots, run by ousted SNP MP Angus robertson’ s new organisation, shows 63/37 percent in favour of retaining the UK.

It may not signal the end of the SNP by itself. But it certainly signals surely the beginning of the end and perhaps the party’s posturing and play acting over Brexit has come back to haunt them.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon often claims the UK government is dragging “Scotland out of the UK against our will”, but she seems to forgot that more than a million Scots voted Leave in 2016.

The First Minister also seems to miss the fact that the referendum was a Uk-wide poll and not just a Scottish one, so her argument of Scotland being dragged out is simply nonsense.

Her calls for another indyref have disillusioned many SNP voters and her party was punished, losing 21 seats in the 2017 election, including mine, Aberdeenshire West and Kincardine, to the Conservatives. If the independence referendum was really “once in a generation”, why is she wanting a poll again only five years later? EWAN BIRNIE Glenshee Road, Braemar, Ballater
