Scotland beat world champions Sweden
Scotland’s curlers got their title challenge back on track thanks to a precious 6-5 victory over old foes Sweden at the World Championships in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Skipbrucemouatandteammates Hammy Mcmillan, Bobby Lammie and Grant Hardie had been rocked by three successive single-shot defeats, but they overcame Niklas Edin’s Swedish rink in 0 Bruce Mouat: Stayed calm to deliver winning stone. November’s European final and produced a repeat performance in Canada.
The Scots led 4-2 and 5-3 and, even after the defending world champion drew level with a two at the penultimate end, Mouat remained calm and delivered the winning stone at the final end.
Team Mouat is now up to seventh place in the roundrobin rankings, and they can move closer to the medal play-offs if they beat Korea in their next fixture.
