Heart of Midlothian Better tempo

- Roddy Elliott

Saturday was the proverbial game of two halves. At the interval we wondered why the tactics were to let Aberdeen play before kicking it long to Uche Ikpeazu to get fouled but fail to win a free kick.

If we blame the manager for the players lacking energy and belief, do we praise him for a hugely better second half in which they pressed higher up the pitch and at a far better tempo? With Craig Wighton and Sean Clare supporting, Uche was far more effective. Jake Mulraney had done okay defensively but was suddenly the architect of our equaliser with a fantastic solo run. Uche’s winner was as brilliantly taken as his open goal miss was awful. Suddenly we are two points behind Aberdeen and looking upwards.
