Drive to bring in pavement parking ban

Parking on pavements could soon become illegal in Scotland.

The Scottish Parliament agreed in principle yesterday that a new law be passed to implement a nationwide footway parking ban.

Living Streets Scotland has campaigned for a Scotland-wide ban on pavement and double parking, welcoming the ruling while urging England and Wales to follow suit.

Section four of the Transport (Scotland) Bill voted on yesterday contains provisions to prohibit “pavement parking”.
