Manhunt after baby boy snatched

-

Police have appealed to the public for help in their hunt for a man who has taken a fivemonth-old baby.

The boy is thought to have been snatched by a man – named by police as James Dempsey – who is known to the boy’s mother.

He is understood to have been driving a Silver Vauxhall Astra – registration NH05 0WP – on the A45 between Birmingham and Coventry just before 1am yesterday.

West Midlands Police have launched an appeal to find the baby, from Sutton Coldfield.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Ingram said: “I am concerned for the safety of this baby and am appealing for help to find him.

“I am appealing directly to James to contact us or the baby’s family so we can arrange for him to be reunited with his mother – or to take the baby to a place of safety, such as a hospital.”
