Rape victims’ details still passed to Home Office
Victims of rape have been arrested by immigration officers after seeking treatment, campaigners have warned.
Home Office immigration staff are continuing to access confidential records according to Liberty.
The news comes despite the Home Secretary’s pledges to never allow a repeat of the Windrush scandal, where victims were wrongly deported or could not access vital services. But speaking at a Commons event for the first anniversary of the Windrush scandal, the charity said vulnerable people were being blocked from access to essential services because those in need are being reported to the authorities.
A super-complaint is being drawn up by Liberty setting out how police should not be sharing data on victims of crime for immigration enforcement.
