Campbell orders sons to stay away from home if they sabotage Arbroath’s title party

- By CRAIG P STEWART

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell was a proud father on Tuesday night as he watched his son Ross grab two goals. However, the Montrose striker has been told not to visit if he finds the net against the Red Lichties today.

The Gayfield side will be crowned League 1 champions if they win at Gayfield and both Raith Rovers and Forfar lose, but manager Campbell, pictured, is keeping maroon feet on the ground after a 2-1 defeat by Forfar last weekend reduced their advantage over the Kirkcaldy club to ten points.

The Arbroath boss said: “We should have won last week’s game. However, we didn’t. Forfar set up to frustrate us and they did that, and they also got the bonus of a last-minute winner.

“Raith would have kept us waiting anyway as they won at East Fife, but it would still have been nice to get the three points.

“I would think that Montrose will be more open as they have something to win as opposed to Forfar who had something to lose.

“It will be a difficult game as Montrose are in the playoff hunt now after three consecutive wins. I watched them defeat Brechin 3-0 in midweek and of course it was great to see Ross score.

“Another of my sons, Iain, played in defence and helped Montrose keep a clean sheet. The two of them have been told that if they do anything that stops Arbroath from winning the league that they have not to come to the house for a week.”
