Who will pay?

-

With Brexit taking all our attention, some important reports are going unnoticed.

Ofgem published the Renewables Obligation Annual Report for 2017-2018 on 21 March. The report states that Ofgem paid more than £1.12 billion subsidising renewable electricity generators in Scotland. Hydro plants received £108 million. Wind farms received £880m, an increase of £266m on the previous year.

If Scotland leaves the United Kingdom, Ofgem will not pay these subsidies. The Scottish Government needs to clearly state who will pay these massive subsidies.
