A paint and protective coating distributor has expanded into Scotland with the opening of a base in Glasgow.

New Guard Coatings Group – which has an HQ in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, and a further nine offices throughout Ireland, Europe and the US – pointed to a jump in demand for its products and services in Scotland.

The new opening, in Pollokshaws, brings the number of sites operated by New Guard Coatings in the UK to seven.

Managing director Ben Cooper said: “This is such an exciting time for New Guard Coatings Group. Our expansion plans are in full swing.”

The Glasgow office will be headed up by Stewart Murray, who has 30 years’ experience in the coatings industry. He said: “It is a great honour to be asked to head up New Guard Coatings’ Scottish division and something that I am extremely excited about.”

The new office will include a stock holding of some 400,000 litres of product.
