A man who killed his partner in Edinburgh last year has been convicted.

At Livingston High Court on Thursday, Robert Douglas was found guilty of the murder of Marie Walker at their home in Pennywell Road on 6 August, 2018.

Officers were contacted after the woman’s daughter raised concerns for her welfare. After attending at the property, the 61-yearold was found dead.

Douglas, now aged 63, was also found injured and taken to hospital before later being charged with murder. He will be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on 29 May.

Detective Inspector Susan Balfour from the Major Investigation Team, which led the inquiry, said: “Robert Douglas subjected his partner of 30 years to a horrific level of violence that ultimately led to her tragic death.”
