Owner of Daily Mash ‘exceeding expectations’
The company behind the Daily Mash – which was launched by two Scottish journalists – has revealed that it is performing ahead of expectations.
Digitalbox, which listed on the Alternative Investment Market in February, said its Entertainment Daily business saw “strong advertising and audience growth” and resulted in the celebrity gossip site reporting underlying earnings of £433,000 and revenue of £2 million.
Entertainment Daily produces and publishes online UK entertainment news covering TV shows and celebrity news. Revenue is generated from the sale of advertising slots in and around the content it publishes.
The news follows the acquisition in February of the parent company of the Daily Mash, which was set up in 2007 by Paul Stokes, a former business editor of The Scotsman, and Neil Rafferty, a former political correspondent for the Sunday Times Scotland and reporter for the Press Association. Glasgowbased Mashed Productions was bought for £1.2m.
