Viral hit fails to topple Capaldi

Lil Nas X has failed to unseat Lewis Capaldi from the top of the UK singles chart after launching a challenge with his viral hit Old Town Road. The track by the Atlanta-born rapper became an internet sensation thanks to the Yeehaw Challenge, in which people filmed themselves transforming into cowboys.

The trend, in the vein of the mannequin challenge, catapulted the track from number 37 to number two.

But Capaldi’s Someone You Loved claimed its seventh week at the top.
