No need for speed
It’s disappointing to read that IAM Roadsmart (formerly the Institute of Advanced Motorists) is defending those who break the speed limit (10 April). Thousands of drivers break the limit every day in Edinburgh, and drive through red lights, knowing there’s virtually no chance that they’ll get caught.
Does the IAM think that’s okay? Doesn’t it know that it’s always the driver’s responsibility to know the limit and stick to it? It should be supporting road safety and the rule of rule of law, not trying to undermine them.
