The Masters/ Molinari makes his move
Francesco Molinari underlined his growing confidence in golf ’s biggest events by moving into contention at the halfway stage in
the 83rd Masters, writes Martin Dempster.
The Italian sprung a surprise when winning the Open at Carnoustie last summer then became the first European to pick up five points out of five in a Ryder Cup. Now he is heading into the weekend with another major feat in his sights after carding opening rounds of 70-67 to sit on seven-under-par at Augusta National.
“I’ll keep doing what I’m doing and see if anyone can beat me,” said Molinari, who is on the same mark as joint-overnight leader Brooks Koepka and former world No 1 Jason Day.
